Advanced Placement

Advanced Placement, commonly referred to as AP, is a program that offers high school students the chance to receive university credit for their work during high school.  AP courses follow a syllabus developed by the College Board and aim to prepare students for the AP Exam.

Students have a variety of advanced placement (AP) courses available to them.  These courses are designed for highly motivated students who demonstrate strength in a particular curricular area.  AP courses provide more challenging course work and the opportunity to take a final examination in May that can lead to college credit.

Testing dates & fees can be found on the CollegeBoard Website. Exam fee per test is $86.00.  http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/ap/cal.html

Crestwood offers the following Advanced Placement Courses

bulletEnglish Literature  & Composition
bulletCalculus

Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation is a process that allows students experiencing conflict to come before a panel of peers for help in resolving their problems. It has been in place at CHS for over five years. Peer Mediators are trained in how to discern problems, promote alternatives, and help design plans that will allow a person in conflict to commit to specific, acceptable behavior. Ultimately, this will help create a happy and safe climate for all students at Crestwood High School. This is a voluntary position. These students facilitate a process. They will not be in charge of, or responsible for, an outcome. Mediators are staff supervised. The nature of problems they deal with will vary, but predominantly are issues like name-calling, rumors, threats, and friendships gone sour. Students are referred to Peer Mediation by peers, teachers, or administrators. Students will not have to accept a Peer Mediation referral, but they will automatically deal with an administrator if they refuse Peer Mediation.
