Dear
Parents/Guardians,
This is a welcome week! It
is almost a heat wave for January. It’s great when the weather warms,
because the children need to be outside for fresh air and exercise. It
makes for a very long day when they are basically in their seats most of
the time.
Below are a few dates coming
up;
Hearing testing (Grades k,1,2,4) Jan. 25-28
NO SCHOOL FRIDAY JAN. 29
Monday, Feb. 15 and 16 are the midwinter break days
School resumes on Feb. 17
*Watch for PTO flier on Little Caesar’s Fundraiser
This week the Student
Council will be sending home a flier regarding a “Read In” to raise money
for the people of Haiti.
We continue to have parking
problems and problems dropping off students. Please be respectful of
parents, students and neighbors, remember, you are setting an example for
your child/ren.
We had a wonderful assembly
last week. This was the second assembly by a company called “Brainstormers”.
The first assembly was an informative presentation on writing…then five
stories were submitted from the entire school and they returned to perform
those stories on Friday. The writers chosen were Nagham Edriss, Israa
Darwich, Muntadhar Al-Hussain, Hassan Almuradi and Brooklyn Riley.
Valentine parties will be
coming up soon. Your child’s teacher will let you know when they will
celebrate. Please remember we do have a wellness policy within the
district and it states that “treats” need to be healthy. I know that is
difficult during parties, but our goal is to have healthy children.
There seems to be some
confusion as to how you know if school has been cancelled. There are two
ways to get that information, listen to WJR on the radio or listen to the
local television channel. It will indicate if Crestwood School
District is not in session. Please remember we are not the
same as Dearborn Heights Schools or Dearborn.
I want to thank all of you
who have made getting your child to school on time a priority. You are
giving them the gift of learning and responsibility.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Levine
