The Crestwood Accelerated Program (CAP)
is a program for gifted and talented students in grades 2, 3 & 4.
Who is eligible to participate in the program?
Second, third and fourth grade students, both within the Crestwood School District and out -of-district Wayne county students, who meet the following criteria:
- A score at or above the 95th percentile on any section or composite score of the 70th percentile and above on a standardized achievement test and/or a
- DRA 2 score of 30 for 50 for 4th grade students, and/or a
- Teacher recommendation and previous year's report card.
How do I apply for my child?
Applications can be obtained from the Crestwood School District central office at 1501 N. Beech Daly for out-of-district students and in-district students will receive one at placement test dates.
Where is the CAP program housed?
The program is housed at Hillcrest Elementary School.
Will transportation be provided?
In-district students will be provided bussing with overflow buses. Out-of-district students must provide their own transportation.
Will siblings automatically be enrolled if only one child meets the qualifications?
No, only the eligible child will be enrolled in Crestwood schools if from out of the district.
How will the curriculum differ from the normal curriculum?
Students in CAP will be provided instruction which is differentiated from the standard school program through acceleration and enrichment.
If my student is from out-of-district can he or she stay through graduation?
How will I know if my child has been selected?
Students who meet the initial screening requirements will be tested.
