Parenting an Adolescent: Setting Limits & Boundaries with Your Child.

The presenter will discuss his own personal experience growing up. This story will capture important points about setting boundaries. He will also introduce research-based ways to create a good relationship with one's children, for it is a two-way street. We encourage parents to attend to learn about ways to improve parent-child relationships.

Presented by ACCESS (Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services), and Riverside Middle School.

The Negative Impact of Vaping

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Statistics show that nearly 20% of high schools and 5% of middle schoolers are vaping on a regular basis. There is a concern over the negative impact of vaping on students. Riverside Middle School is seeing some incidents of vaping. In an effort to be proactive and approach this issue as a team we have decided to hold a meeting to discuss vaping and how it is impacting our students.

In order to support our students to be well rounded citizens we need our parents to be allies and support their students at home by having open communication with their children about the effects and dangers of vaping.

Our Vaping Parent Information Presentation will be presented by Access, Officer Younis (our school resource officer) and Riverside administration.

Coat Drive

ACCESS is hosting a Warm Clothing Drive to benefit ACCESS clients and other low-income individuals in Dearborn, Detroit, Hamtramck, and Sterling Heights areas. From November 22 and January 13, ACCESS will be accepting donations of new winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves and socks in both adult and children sizes in donation bins located in the lobbies of the following locations:

ACCESS Headquarters (2651 Saulino Court, Dearborn, MI 48120)
ACCESS Community Health & Research Center (6450 Maple St., Dearborn, MI 48126)
ACCESS Sterling Heights (4301 E 14 Mile, Sterling Heights, MI 48310)

Also accepting monetary donations (cash or check) to support buying warm clothes for individuals. Checks can be made out to ACCESS, with the memo line reading “Warm Clothing Drive” and mailed to ACCESS Headquarters, or you may donate directly here.
