CHS Athletic Department Covid-19 Response Guidelines

This is the attempt to simplify the information from the various sources for the requirement of athletics.  It is a living document that may be updated as we proceed having competitions through the pandemic.  All participants are responsible for being aware of and knowing the current MHSAA and MDHHS guidelines and regulations regarding Covid-19 procedures.  Participants refer to all athletes, coaches, officials, necessary team or district personnel.

  • Spectators are allowed, only 2 per participant (parents, guardians and adults only).
  • No students or children will be admitted (ID checks may be implemented).
  • Players are to give the coach the names of the 2 spectators the day prior to the contest, no substitutions are allowed after 12 noon the day of the contest.
  • There is a $5 dollar admission for each spectator.
  • Masks are to be worn at all times and during all events upon entering the building or facility for all school activities.
  • Spectators will be cleared between games (ex. Between a JV and Varsity contest, the gym will be cleared of spectators) in order to keep the size of the crowd limited and social distancing possible.
  • No personal items are to be shared (towels, water bottles, phones, clothes, hats, etc.)
  • Each athlete should have his/her own personal and identified water bottle or container that is not to be shared.
  • Athletes, coaches and officials, will be screened and have their temperature checked upon entering the practice or facility.
  • Coaches are responsible for documenting and saving screening forms and temperature checks for practices.  These will be given to the Athletic Director.
  • If any participant answers the screening questions indicating they may have a symptom, or have a temperature above 100.3 degrees, that person will immediately be put into a separate area and a parent/guardian will be notified and arrangements made for the individual to be removed from the premises, or if it is a coach or official, that person will not be allowed to participate in the event.  Testing for Covid-19 is recommended.
  • If anyone who has been a participant in an event at Crestwood tests positive for Covid-19, they must contact Crestwood Administration as soon as possible.
  • Participants who are sick or feel ill are not to attend an event.
  • Objects used in a contest are to be sanitized regularly.
  • Coaches are to remind athletes regularly about maintaining physical distance, washing and sanitizing hands and basic hygiene considerations.
  • Proper attire is to be worn to practice and contests and clothing worn to practices and contests are to be washed before next use.
  • Participants that do not adhere to Covid-19 prevention guidelines will be asked to leave the premises.

  • Indoor activities may occur with limited numbers of coaches, athletes and spectators in the facility
  • All participants must wear a mask (except for swimming due to ability to social distance in the water, and wrestling which will be using a rapid test prior to matches).
  • Six foot distancing is to be maintained on the benches, between players not actively participating in the contest, and between coaches and officials.
  • Spectators will be limited and social distancing will be marked in the stands.
  • Spectators are required to wear masks.
  • There will be no concessions.

  • Practice sessions should involve the use of pods or groups the same members are to remain in said pods for the duration of the pods.
  • Six foot distancing between each participant must be maintained at all times when not conducting a play, scrimmage or activity that requires proximity.
  • Masks are to be worn by competition participants and fans.
  • Spectators will be limited and social distancing will be marked in the stands.
  • Spectators are required to wear masks.
