CHS Spotlight:  Students in Biology have been investigating the process and rate of decomposition. Students conducted a lab experiment to collect data on carbon dioxide levels that are released by yeast in different temperatures of water. They connected the flow of energy and matter in this system and related it back to peat decomposition in the past, present, and future of the Arctic system.

Crestwood Spotlight! Bio students are learning about fires burning across the arctic that can continue through the cold winters. We decided to investigate the flow of energy and matter when fuels burn and collected evidence that arctic peat soils contain a great deal of carbon.

Crestwood Spotlight:  Students are learning about fires burning across the arctic that can continue through the cold winters. These fires have been called Zombie Fires as they seem to die out and reappear in the same place. We decided to investigate the flow of energy and matter when fuels burn and collected evidence that arctic peat soils contain a great deal of carbon. We found that the carbon is released into the atmosphere during these fire events.

They created their own political party and came up with 7 policy issues (planks) explaining what they want to do and how they will implement their policy position if they win power.
