Across the Crestwood School District, students celebrated Constitution Day on Thursday, September 17th, learning about the U.S. Constitution while having some fun along the way!
At Kinloch Elementary, students showed their patriotic spirit by dressing in red, white, and blue. At Crestwood High School, advisory classes put their Constitution knowledge to the test in a schoolwide Kahoot competition, with separate competitions for 9th–10th graders and 11th–12th graders. Congratulations to Ms. Faber’s advisory class and Mr. Moitozo’s advisory class for coming out on top!
It was a great day of learning, friendly competition, and celebrating the principles and history of our Constitution across Crestwood!

Jennifer Kaczmarczyk, a Preschool Special Education Teacher in our district, reminds us that breakthrough moments don't always look the same for every student. Through months of intentional support and collaboration with speech and language specialists, her student found his voice and the confidence that comes with being understood. This is the kind of individualized, patient work that reflects our commitment to every learner in Crestwood.

When Anna Casilio's preschoolers visited a real forest, they didn't just learn about habitats — they became teachers themselves. After correctly identifying which animals belonged in forest ecosystems, these young learners built a physical habitat model to share their knowledge with peers across the building. This is the kind of authentic, student-centered learning that reflects our commitment to engagement and academic growth at every level.

Azhair Alaajeeb, knows that trust starts with the smallest gestures. She watched children go from uncertain glances to running hugs, all because she showed up with patience and consistency across four classrooms. Her story reminds us that every interaction matters, especially for our youngest learners who need extra support. This is what it means to create environments where every child feels safe to grow.

Rosemary Rowland, one of our dedicated paraprofessionals, spent six months showing up for a student who wasn't ready to participate in the sensory room. Then one day, the student threw the ball back. That single toss represented a transformation from observer to participant, and it happened because Rosemary never stopped believing. This is the kind of persistent, student-centered work that defines who we are at Crestwood School District. When we hold onto conviction and stay present, we reach every student.

What does belonging look like in a classroom of four-year-olds? Nancy Kashou, GSRP Lead Teacher at Crestwood Early Childhood Center, discovered it wasn't about compliance or routines. It emerged when she made space for each child to be themselves while building genuine connections with one another. Her insight reminds us that the strongest communities form when we honor each person's uniqueness and create opportunities for authentic care and teamwork.

Katie Branam discovered something powerful this year: when therapy feels like play, preschool students who are typically quiet start using longer phrases and sentences. Through an interactive Red Tractor storytelling activity, her students didn't just retell the story, they added their own animals and ideas, connecting language directly to action. This is the kind of student-centered, joyful learning that drives growth in our youngest learners and reflects our commitment to literacy from the start.
