When Anna Casilio's preschoolers visited a real forest, they didn't just learn about habitats — they became teachers themselves. After correctly identifying which animals belonged in forest ecosystems, these young learners built a physical habitat model to share their knowledge with peers across the building. This is the kind of authentic, student-centered learning that reflects our commitment to engagement and academic growth at every level.

YOUR FORM MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

If your child receives an Education Benefits Form, please take a few minutes to complete it and return it to your school’s Main Office. Only one form is needed per household, and not every household will receive a form.

Completing this form is important! The information provided helps Crestwood School District secure valuable funding that supports programs and resources for our students. It may also help your family qualify for waived or reduced fees.

One form. A few minutes. A big impact for our students!

Azhair Alaajeeb, knows that trust starts with the smallest gestures. She watched children go from uncertain glances to running hugs, all because she showed up with patience and consistency across four classrooms. Her story reminds us that every interaction matters, especially for our youngest learners who need extra support. This is what it means to create environments where every child feels safe to grow.

Rosemary Rowland, one of our dedicated paraprofessionals, spent six months showing up for a student who wasn't ready to participate in the sensory room. Then one day, the student threw the ball back. That single toss represented a transformation from observer to participant, and it happened because Rosemary never stopped believing. This is the kind of persistent, student-centered work that defines who we are at Crestwood School District. When we hold onto conviction and stay present, we reach every student.

What does belonging look like in a classroom of four-year-olds? Nancy Kashou, GSRP Lead Teacher at Crestwood Early Childhood Center, discovered it wasn't about compliance or routines. It emerged when she made space for each child to be themselves while building genuine connections with one another. Her insight reminds us that the strongest communities form when we honor each person's uniqueness and create opportunities for authentic care and teamwork.

Katie Branam discovered something powerful this year: when therapy feels like play, preschool students who are typically quiet start using longer phrases and sentences. Through an interactive Red Tractor storytelling activity, her students didn't just retell the story, they added their own animals and ideas, connecting language directly to action. This is the kind of student-centered, joyful learning that drives growth in our youngest learners and reflects our commitment to literacy from the start.

When Racha Akil celebrates the small moments that led to big growth. As part of our district-wide commitment to social and emotional learning, Racha worked intentionally to help students communicate their feelings, solve problems independently, and advocate for themselves. The result? Children who are more confident, capable, and ready for what comes next. That's the kind of everyday impact that defines Crestwood.

Rawana Shukur knows that kindness starts young. Through Crestwood's GSRP Building Study project, she created space for preschoolers to collaborate, problem-solve, and support one another using recycled materials from home. The result? Even our youngest learners recognized when a friend needed help and stepped up to encourage them. That's the foundation of a learning community we're proud to build.
