Crestwood Spotlight: 9th grade ELA students recently participated in a hands-on CER writing station activity, where they refined their claims, evidence, reasoning, and writing structure with support from senior mentors and Link Crew leaders. The collaboration created an incredible learning environment, with upperclassmen stepping up to coach and support freshmen as they strengthened their writing skills.

Crestwood Spotlight: Honors Chemistry students recently conducted a solubility lab where they mixed ionic solutions to observe precipitate formation and used solubility rules to predict the products of double replacement reactions. Hands-on investigations like this help students connect chemical theory with real-world lab results.

TOMORROW! Crestwood School District is partnering with the Michigan State Police VIP Program to host a free fingerprinting event on March 17 from 9:00 AM–5:00 PM for students and community members with special needs (age 2 and up). This program helps law enforcement quickly identify individuals if they become lost.

Due to the high winds, Kinloch Elementary School has lost power. Therefore, we will be releasing students at 1:30 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Please pick up your children and have your identification available to confirm relationships to your child as you will retrieve them from the main office. Upon arriving to the school, directions will be given, and we ask everyone to be patient while we dismiss students in a safe and orderly fashion.

National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4-8, 2026. The Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Educator Excellence wishes to celebrate teachers across Michigan for the entire month of May.
MDE invites parents/guardians to submit 15-30 second videos of their students recognizing and thanking a specific teacher for their impact. Cell phones easily capture the videos. Please follow the directions on the flyer. Videos and parental consent must be submitted via this Google Form:

Congratulations to Hillcrest Principal Nassrine Saad, Numeracy Coach Randa Abdallah, and Reading Interventionist Veronica Greenlaw, who presented on the coaching cycle and MTSS processes at Hillcrest at the Michigan Reading Association Conference in Lansing.
Their session was a great success, with many educators staying afterward to learn more about the impactful work happening in our schools. We are proud to see our staff sharing their expertise and representing the Crestwood community!

Crestwood High School recently hosted an Iftar Workshop for newcomer students and their families. During the event, parents and students learned about important school topics and discovered ways to support student success.

Hillcrest Spotlight: Students celebrated Black History Month with hands-on projects—recreating Rosa Parks’ bus, Harriet Tubman’s Underground Railroad, Mae Jemison’s space shuttle, and Jackie Robinson’s legacy. They finished by writing books about what they learned!

CHS Spotlight: Crestwood’s Quiz Bowl team had an outstanding season, finishing 1st in their division in the Southern Wayne Quiz Bowl League! They’ve qualified for the Class A State Tournament at the University of Michigan this April. Next up: the League Tournament in March.
